In Domi's honor, the next dog that I adopt will be a senior. After all, every one of us will be a senior one day and will look to the world to love and to care for us when we no longer have the glow of youth. Imagine what it feels like to be old and homeless. To have given all you have when you were younger and then to be cast off. I, for one, will do my part, however small, to offer my home to a dog in need.

The world has lost DOMI the THERAPY DOG. My heart is breaking, my sorrow immense.
There are times when I can barely stand the pain of loving dogs as much as I do. This is one of those times. We have lost Domi, a precious asset to this world who just couldn't fight any longer and medicine could not give her a miracle. Below you will find her last post - her post from Saturday, yesterday. My tears are flowing, my heart is breaking. If I feel this much sorrow I can only imagine the grief of her beloved family. If you have the time, please leave a message on Domi's blog for her family.

Hello pups, kitties and peoples.
I'm not feeling well and I think this will be my finally post as I doubt I will make it through the night. We thought we had worked out a good dosage of the steroid and I had been feeling good lately. I had been looking forward to my visit with my girls parents as they always have lots of good food and take me on plenty of car rides. Unfortunately, after a couple of days there I just really started to not feel so well. I lost all my energy and was just having trouble getting around and breathing. My girl's mom increased the dosage on the steroid but my face just continued to swell. I'm home now with my boy and girl and it's a good place to be. They are resting beside me and trying to keep me as comfortable as they can.
Before I go, I just want to remind all you pups and kitties to always have plenty of love for your humans even if they might be grumpy. Sometimes they get caught up in all sorts of things and take us for granted. That doesn't mean they don't love and need us. Also you humans, remember why you have us around. If you are feeling stressed out, pet us. It's been proven to lower your blood pressure. Also keep lots of treats handy. And for everyone, enjoy life. Always take time for walks, frisbee and CAR RIDES.
And one last thing for you humans. If you are considering adding another dog to your home, think about giving one of older dogs a chance. We don't chew up your shoes, pee inside (well, not unless we really can't help it) or need lots of training. Plus you will have a very loyal friend for the rest of our lives.
Good bye everyone. It's been really wonderful to get to know all of you.

Very, Very Sorry to hear of your loss of a friend. Heaven has gained another angel today, she sees your sadness & tears and yearns to comfort but she is also enjoying a peace that none of us can fathom but knows that one day e will be reunited & understand. We took in a senior dog about 7 years ago, she was only with us for 3 years. She sat at my feet all the time & always would be looking at me as if trying to convey her love & gratitude. You will feel truly blessed giving a senior dog a safe place to rest till she heres her final call home.
Our condolances; what a hard, hard loss.

Hello my friends, I've just gotten your message in 16 Paws - mom came earlier, she's number two above, she's crying too, she didn't know Domi but she can totally relate to the pain of those who lose a friend like this dog has certainly been.
She left a message for his family, we're all praying for their well-being and sending our love thoughts to all of them and his friends. He was an amazingly beautiful dog and we cry for his loss.

Very sad news about Domi...she was a beatiful, larger-than-life dog who was well loved. You are in mine and Sophie's thoughts...we will stop by Domi's place as well.
Dear Domi's People,
We canine ones come along to live with you and teach you about the cycle of life. How vibrant it is, how much you are a part of it and that it ends - in a physical way, but Domi's spirit lives on. And so must you. How ever, and in what ever way you can - live on: in Domi's spirit. Love doesn't die.
Rest in peace, Domi. You will be missed by many.
We are so sorry to hear about your special friend. Her photo is so sweet and gentle - you can just see what a sweet soul she was. Take care, we are thinking of you Scout and Freyja's Mom!

re: senior dogs, I inherited my late ex-mil's 2 senior shelties, its been blessings and well difficult in time too lol. But well worth it since they needed stability in their life. I still have Sonja who has actually blossomed so much in the last year or so.
Ohhhh so sad. Through leaky eyes, I type thru leaky eyes and send prayers and love to Domi's family who I will visit right now.

Hugs and tears from California.
We lost our Border Collie last November to liver cancer. 15 years of love and it's never enough,,, is it? After Shelly passed an abused Pittie came into our lives in the most extraordinary manner.
She is safe and loved now. Kindest thoughts and condolences go out to you as you heal.
Our heart is breaking too, for the family. it is so hard to love and then let go.
sending comforting thoughts
Tweedles and mom
I'm so very sorry you had to go, Domi. I know you will see your humans again one day, though.
I couldnt not stop my tears reading about Domi. The moment you open your heart to a dog, you know youre in for a heartbreak. But even if it feels like a curse, we would love and love again. I have senior dogs myself and have avoided buying a new dog ( unless its an adoption) so I could focus on taking care of the. I treasure every moment that I have left with them.
