For every dog a fur-ever home and a happy ending...

Do you remember my story of my friend Cindy and how she adopted Misha? I told you that Misha would have a forever home that would make any dog thrilled to be adopted by my friend and her husband. Yesterday Cindy sent me this photo of Misha as she surveys 'her' waterway (mouth of Lake Superior) from the fambly pontoon boat. Cindy tells me that Misha adores boating and camping and hiking and that she has fit into their fambly PURRfectly - even making friends with her two kitty siblings, Pippin and Stashu (both older shelter alumni).

Misha sees only blue skies and sunny days ahead
Why am I sharing this with you? To remind everyone that there are millions of older, large, black dogs in shelters waiting for their forever homes and that those older, large, black dogs are PURRfect in each and every way.

Lucky Misha! Hopefully more dogs like her will get the same chance!

Someone dumped a crateful of puppies at our sanctuary. They were filthy and flea-ridden; now are clean and getting better. As I looked at them for the first time yesterday, I caught myself being more attracted to the spotted and lighter ones than to the black ones. AAHUGH. And I know all about black dog syndrome :(. Pervasive, yes; are black dogs joyful companions? DEFINITELY. Thanks for reminding us.

We so love happy endings...or rather, beginnings! We pray for the day when every dog or kitty, black or brown or white or mixed old or young big or small all have a safe haven filled with love that they call, "home!"

Hi Scout and Freyja. Looks like Misha has found the perfect home. I didn't realise black dogs would have less chance of being chosen for a new home. I wonder why that is? We had our black great dane Brucey and absolutely loved his colour. Its a strange world at times isn't it. Take care all. No worries, and love, Stella
