An adoption story: When you fall in l♥ve - color doesn't matter...(Jessie's legacy)

Did you know that large, black, middle-aged dogs are the last ones to be picked by prospective adopters (other than the elderly dogs)? Large, black, middle-aged dogs most often lose their lives, or languish for months, in shelters because they are not fancy or pocket-sized or a puppy.

Do you remember my friend, Cindy? Her best furend, Jessie, completed her Circle of Life at the end of last year. Cindy and I share the belief that 'adoption is the only option' when you're looking for a four-footed family member. A couple of months ago, after a period of deep mourning for Jessie, Cindy set out to find a large, black, older dog to adopt. She was ready for a new walking partner to explore the rivers, lakes and woods of northern Michigan.

With that said, I wish to share with you a blossoming l♥ve story - a happy ending - and - a new beginning that I was  invited to share with a good friend.

Cindy and Misha met each other through Few Steps From Home Animal Rescue in Bay City, Michigan. I was thrilled to be included at such a special time in both of their lives.

We don't know who we're happier for: Misha for being adopterated. Or Cindy, for celebrating her love for Jesse by expanding that love with Misha.

Thank you for sharing the story!

Wirey love,

We had a black lab mix when I was growing up and even today I have a special place in my heart for black dogs.
Great story of love.
Happy Life to Misha and the rest of her furever family.

When we had labs of all three colors, we always noticed that people gravitated first to our yellow lab, second to our chocolate, and last to our black. We figured that the darker the color, the more scary a dog looks to people.

Thanks for the happy story.
