Marine bends rules to save dog found in Iraq and THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR VOTES!

After injured stray trekked 75 miles to find him, pilot got him home to U.S.

I'm going to tell you right now - go grab your tissues and be prepared to lose a few tears. This video runs for six minutes but they will be six minutes well spent. So, grab your cuppa', settle back with your canine companion and be prepared to let your heart get warmed.

Sadly, there are so many more deserving dogs in Iraq but this one - this one - made it to paradise by any dog's standards.

PeeEss: Thank you so much to all of the wonderful people who took the time to vote for Scout and Freyja in the HOWL-o-weenie contests. We are happy to inform you that each of them won yesterday in various group entries. In our ♥s we know that each and eFURy entry was a #1 WINNER. Slurpies an' schmoopies...

We saw that story several times on the news and it was just amazing. That dog just knew where he wanted to be. More proof that our pets know who is good to them.'

Congrats on your wins in the costume contest - we thought it was all so much fun. Your costumes were all so wonderful.

What a great story! thanks for sharing.

it's so sad to see the ears cut off. i recently saw a therapy dog with similar ears and wondered how a dog with stand up ears could look like "bear" ears... it didn't seem natural. now i know what happened... sigh...

Thanks for posting, I hadn't seen this dog before. I've followed Operation Baghdad Pups and knew a lot of cats and dogs were brought back after the SPCA received it's first letter from a soldier and his dog Charlie. These truly are heartwarming stories. These animals give the soldiers love they have missed and help them think about something else during dark and difficult times. Bless this dogs heart, I can't believe they cut his ears off, but I've seen that crap before. Poor thing. -Woof, The Gang @ Dog blog for Five Dogs

Thank you for sharing this story. We saw it on the Today show yesterday. It is a wonderful story and it shows how special is the bond between us & our friends. Such cruelty in cutting off his ears! Nubs & his person are truly bonded.

Wonderful story- we didn't watch the video because mom is going to work and doesn't want to cry all the way there. :/ bad enough she is going! there are some great adopted dogs from iraq--- there is a group that flies them out, i can't remember what they're called, but one goes to moms clinic and she's a real sweet dog.
